Purpose. A digital workforce for the security function of a large UK retailer running on Microsoft, built in Microsoft Foundry, with the organisation’s permission and every detail anonymised to the written standard in the editorial principles. The role being built is a cyber security director’s, and the question is how much of that job four specialist skills under one director role can do, for a known cost.

Sister project. Digital workforce as a company’s operating team asks the same question at the other end of the scale: a founder-led software company, Claude Code instead of Foundry, the founder as the only human.

Hypothesis. The sentence from Part 1 that could be wrong.

Where it is. Phase one of six, the spark: deciding whether the idea deserves the next thirteen parts. Writing is under way; nothing is built yet. Part 1 is due on 3 November.
